The vhs learning portal is a free digital learning platform run by the German Adult Education Association. It includes a wide range of online courses - for German as a second language, literacy and basic education. It is also a learning management system: teachers are provided with their own user interface on which they can organise their courses and communicate with their learners.

The platform can be used in a variety of different ways - whether as digital support for face-to-face teaching, in blended learning settings, virtual courses or for individual practice at home. Learners can use the platform to continue learning independently after a face-to-face course and so cover the time they have to wait for follow-up courses.

The vhs learning portal is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Thanks to this funding, use of the portal is free of charge for learners and teachers.
