The event
At the FRÖBEL kindergarten Die Spürnasen in Cologne, animal-assisted pedagogy is understood to mean: "Animal-cheeky living together". The name says it all. The Spürnasen's animals (Labrador dog Sky, 5 chickens, ants and stick insects) accompany and help shape the day-to-day running of the daycare centre. The special thing is that the children also take on the role of experts and accompany or take over the animal services.
We facilitate an honest and authentic exchange about animal-assisted pedagogy in the kindergarten. We attach particular importance to all the stumbling blocks in everyday life. Due to various challenges such as weekend care, parent work and sick animals, we have developed many innovative problem-solving strategies and organise our "animal" interaction anew every day.
The pedagogical integration into the day-to-day life of the daycare centre is very important to us, which is why our animal-assisted pedagogy not only takes place in direct contact with the animals, but is also lived by the pedagogical staff, families and children throughout the day.
Franziska Yacoubou talks about the exciting and varied everyday life with children and animals at the daycare centre and is available to answer questions.
