Industry for the lab: flexible, modular and holistic learning with the Industrial Mechatronic Unit

With our Industrial Mechatronic Unit (IMU), you can simulate industrial automated production systems of varying complexity. Thanks to its modular design, the IMU is perfect for further expansion. The system accompanies you throughout the entire training programme, from the basics of PLC programming to networked production.

The industrial touch panel and the various operating elements allow you to operate and monitor the system and its statuses comprehensively. The touch panel is freely programmable and can display a wide range of information about the system. The operating elements allow simple and intuitive operation of the unit and are also freely configurable.

Everything you need in one system

Our IMU is a cyber-physical system. As such, it contains a programmable logic controller (PLC) as a logic unit, Ethernet ports for communication as well as a DC motor and various sensors. In addition to the existing RFID read/write head, you can connect further intelligent sensors via an IO-Link master module. A 25-pin serial interface makes the PLC's inputs and outputs available for various processing stations.

The IMU as a companion throughout the entire training programme

Once you have learnt the basics of PLC programming, you will cover various other aspects by setting up modular machining systems – for example, separating workpieces, machining, quality control, labelling and ejection. Network several systems and even set up your own production facilities and integrate our enterprise resource planning system ERP-Lab.

By using industrial components, learners find their way around the job more quickly after their training – that's Real Experience Learning!
