Learning to read without feeling overwhelmed
Promoting reading is the issue of our time! Lauter Verlag is revolutionizing the way children learn to read with its early reading concept. Using short words and sound markers (au, ei, ie, ng, st, ch, etc.), the letter books systematically build up sight vocabulary based on word length.Starting with the 2-letter books (BBs, the words are 2 letters long), even the youngest children practice blending letters together with fun stories. With the 3BBs, the sight vocabulary is expanded to include 3-letter words and the children discover their first sentences. With the 4BBs, the sight vocabulary is expanded to include 4-letter words and the kids read short continuous texts with direct speech. The 5BBs consolidate the reading skills acquired step by step. The reading level corresponds to that of ordinary first readers, but the short words (max. 5 letters long) give beginner readers the confidence that they can manage all the words.
Since short words occur very frequently (cf. Zipf's law; of the 100 most common German words, 48 percent are words with a maximum of 3 letters), it makes sense to introduce beginner readers or children who find reading difficult to reading with short words. Quick reading successes motivate.
Ideal for elementary schools, special education schools, mentors/reading coaches, DaZ/DaF, and anyone who takes early reading motivation seriously.
