Onilo is a learning platform for promoting children's reading and language skills that transforms children's literature from well-known picture and information books into its own digital format. At the heart of the offering are animated and narrated picture book stories, the so-called "Boardstories," which inspire children to engage with language, reading, and learning, and make their potential visible. As a specialist in language and reading promotion, Onilo combines pedagogical quality with modern technology and many years of experience in digital education in line with the guidelines of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education (KMK).
 
Onilo works closely with educational partners to develop tailored offerings for heterogeneous learning groups – from early language education to support in multilingual contexts. Teachers benefit from clearly structured concepts that can be flexibly integrated into lessons, all-day programs, remedial support, and projects, and that noticeably ease everyday pedagogical work. The wide range of topics – which, in addition to stories about popular children's book characters, also includes areas such as democracy, climate education, and factual subjects – can be used in a customized and differentiated way through various player functions. Targeted animations, zooms, and camera movements draw attention to important visual details, foster empathetic learning, and support text comprehension. Functions such as read-aloud as well as showing and hiding the text open up additional learning pathways – for collaborative learning in groups as well as for individual work and support, tailored to each specific learning objective.
