Erasmus+ für Schulen, Fremdsprachenassistenz für Studierende, Schulpartnerschaften und Lehrkräftefortbildung: Der PAD fördert den europäischen und internationalen Austausch im Schulbereich.
‘Exchange educates’: The Pedagogical Exchange Service introduces itself
What are the aims of the PAD?‘Exchange educates’ is the motto of the Pedagogical Exchange Service (PAD) of the Kultusministerkonferenz. Its work in the field of international exchange in schools promotes intercultural dialogue and understanding between people and cultures in Europe and around the world. This promotes European and international competence, cosmopolitanism and tolerance, foreign language learning and openness to the German language and culture abroad. The PAD's programmes also enable cross-border cooperation between institutions and individuals in the school sector and contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning.
What characterises the PAD?
The PAD acts on behalf of the federal states. It networks their interests and maintains contacts with partner organisations abroad. Thanks to the technical and pedagogical expertise of its staff, it serves as a point of contact for schools on issues relating to exchanges in the school sector. In addition, it advises ministries, authorities and foundations on matters relating to the development and further development of exchange programmes.
What does the PAD promote and who can participate?
The PAD promotes school exchanges and school partnerships, further education and training for teachers, students, especially those studying to become teachers (foreign language assistants), as well as voluntary services for young adults. Participation in exchange programmes is decided by the cultural or senate administrations of the federal states or the PAD.
Which partners does the PAD co-operate with?
As a partner of the Federal Foreign Office, the PAD is involved in initiatives such as ‘Schools: Partners for the Future’ (PASCH) and the ‘kulturweit’ voluntary service. As the national agency for EU programmes, it implements the Erasmus+ programme in schools. As part of the Erasmus programme, the PAD also promotes digital exchange via eTwinning.
