The Buzzard UG

Buzzard is an award-winning educational app for teaching current political and social issues. It supports teachers in bringing relevant debates from politics, society and current affairs into the classroom in a fast, clear and balanced way – without time-consuming material research.

Every day, the app curates up-to-date topics and presents contrasting perspectives from established media outlets. These are complemented by concise summaries for quick access, background information on media sources and authors, and classroom-tested worksheets. This turns complex news coverage into ready-to-use teaching material – ideal for politics, language and social science subjects.

Unlike traditional textbooks, Buzzard enables teachers to work with current topics and pro-and-con debates at any time. All content is presented from multiple perspectives in line with the principles of the Beutelsbach Consensus, ensuring balanced and non-partisan political education.

Buzzard places a strong emphasis on journalistic quality, diversity of opinion and transparency. Its goal is to empower students to critically evaluate information, compare arguments and develop well-founded positions of their own. In doing so, Buzzard makes an important contribution to media literacy and democratic education in an age shaped by TikTok, disinformation and AI.

Editorial work is carried out independently, follows recognised journalistic standards and is supported by a renowned advisory board.

For use in schools, Buzzard offers teacher subscriptions as well as school licences for departments and entire schools. The app is GDPR-compliant, ad-free and specifically designed for educational use.
