Teaching in the forest
Teaching in the Forest is a non-profit project that supports schools and educational institutions in implementing learning outside the classroom. The focus is on the regular use of forest and natural spaces as learning locations within the framework of regular lessons. The aim is to effectively combine subject-specific learning, personal development, and experiencing nature.
The Forest Schooling program is aimed in particular at teachers and schools and includes training courses, practical workshops, teaching concepts, and accompanying materials. It draws on didactic approaches to education for sustainable development and Education outside the Classroom (EOtC) and links them with the latest findings from educational research, environmental education, and school development.
Forest education supports teachers in planning, implementing, and reflecting on competence-oriented learning settings in natural spaces. The forest is understood not only as a space for experience, but also as a didactic medium that enables action-oriented, exploratory, and cooperative learning. Topics such as sustainable development, ecological relationships, exercise, social skills, and health play a central role.
