Klasse2000 - strong and healthy in primary school

Klasse2000 is Germany's largest teaching program for health promotion, violence and addiction prevention in elementary school. Since 1991, it has reached over 2.2 million children.
The tried-and-tested program makes teaching easier for teachers with elaborate lesson suggestions and lots of materials. No further training is necessary, the topics are in line with the curriculum.
With Klasse2000, children in grades 1-4 learn what they can do themselves to stay healthy and well. Teachers and specially trained health promoters carry out around 15 Klasse2000 lessons each school year to strengthen key life and health skills. The topics are
- Eating and drinking healthily
- Moving and relaxing
- Liking yourself and having friends
- Solving problems and conflicts without violence
- Thinking critically and saying no - especially to alcohol and tobacco.
A variety of methods, games, visits from health promoters and interesting materials - e.g. breathing trainer, pocket brain, feelings book and the KLARO character - get children excited about the topic of health. Teachers can find lots of digital materials on the KLARO-Labor digital learning platform and children can explore the content in a playful way.
The effectiveness of the program has been scientifically proven. Klasse2000 is run by a non-profit association. The program is financed by donations and grants, mostly in the form of sponsorships for individual classes (€250 per class).
