Starting in the 2026/27 school year, lay resuscitation will be a mandatory part of the curriculum in North Rhine-Westphalia. Students in grades 7 through 9 will be required to participate in at least 90 minutes of training. School regulations stipulate that lay resuscitation, like first aid, is an integral part of health promotion in the school program. Students will learn according to the Bronze Standard “Check, Call, Compress.” As part of this decision, JRK-Nordrhein and JRK-Westfalen-Lippe have created teaching materials and helpful information that can be made available to multipliers and teachers.
